We understand that shopping online—especially for vintage pieces—can sometimes be tricky, and we want to offer returns to our customers as we are able to. However, chargebacks make this increasingly difficult. Since chargebacks bypass our store policies and can be filed even after a refund has been issued, they create a financial strain that makes it harder for us to continue offering flexible return options.
Despite these risks, we are committed to working with our customers to ensure satisfaction and to keep returns as an option. We kindly ask that you reach out to us directly if you have any issues with your order so we can work together on a fair resolution. Your support helps us continue offering the best possible service while protecting the future of our small business.
- Returns
- Returns must be submitted for processing within 14 days upon postmarked delivery date. Please note that all items must be new and/or unworn to be eligible for a return.
- If you would like to return your item(s), please email us to start the return process. Please note that it is the responsibility of the buyer to cover the appropriate postage costs and mail back the item(s) to Retroland HQ. A 10% restocking fee is deducted from the total before the balance is reimbursed back to the buyer.
- Once the item has been returned, its condition will be assessed to ensure the item has not been worn or damaged. Any items that show signs of wear or have had their tags removed will not be eligible for a full refund. Such orders will be assessed on a case-by-case basis between buyer and seller.
At Retroland, we take pride in offering high-quality vintage clothing and accessories, ensuring each item is thoroughly inspected, cleaned, and restored before it reaches our customers. To maintain fairness and transparency in our transactions, we have established the following chargeback policy:
Understand the Nature of Vintage Clothing
We provide detailed descriptions and photographs of each item to ensure customers are well-informed before making a purchase. Inherently, as vintage clothing is typically pre-owned and pre-worn, it is unlike new, un-worn goods that you might purchase from a big-box retailer.
No Chargebacks for Buyer’s Remorse
We do not accept chargebacks based on buyer’s remorse, dissatisfaction with sizing, fit, or personal preference. Customers are encouraged to review measurements and ask any necessary questions before completing their purchase.
Disputes and Resolution
If a customer believes they have received an item significantly different from the description, they must contact us within 48 hours of receiving the order. We will work to resolve the issue promptly, which may include offering store credit or a return on a case-by-case basis.
Unauthorized Transactions
If you believe a purchase was made fraudulently, please contact us immediately so we can assist in resolving the matter. We take fraudulent chargebacks seriously and will provide all necessary documentation to dispute illegitimate claims.
Chargeback Disputes
Any chargeback filed without prior communication with our store will be contested. We maintain thorough records of transactions, item descriptions, and customer communications to support our case in the event of a dispute.
How Chargebacks Impact Small Businesses
Unlike big-box retailers, small businesses like ours operate on tighter margins, and chargebacks can have a significant financial impact. Each chargeback not only results in the loss of the original sale but also incurs additional fees and penalties, because, even if a chargeback is fraudulent, we still have to pay a fee—essentially forcing us to pay someone to steal from us. Repeated chargebacks can also affect our ability to accept certain payment methods, making it harder for us to serve our customers.
We take fraudulent chargebacks seriously and will provide evidence to payment processors to dispute unjust claims. We appreciate your support and understanding in helping us continue to provide high-quality vintage pieces to our customers!
